Top Ten (10) Fashion Trends in 2020

Fashion is chic and a superpower that we use to communicate to the world our lifestyle, priorities and in general our identity. When the world seems to be collapsing around us, the question of who we are becomes a question we need to focus on.

With 2020 coming to an end, it’s time to reflect on the fashion year that was. From statement sleeves to silk garments. This year saw a range of trends that we won’t be forgetting anytime soon. Well, here’s the rundown on which trends deserve to keep their spots in your wardrobe for the new year.

Silk Garment

Silk garment is the most expensive and rich. It is considered in all countries irrespective of the culture and dressing. Silk garment is used for dresses, skirts and many more. It has the natural luster and softness and is associated with elegance, luxury and style. Not only in the past but today, silk has its style statement and is a symbol of richness, wealth and success. Silk garment can be styled as a wedding dress, evening gown or party dress. You can also make beautiful embroidery on silk. Silk is comfortable, durable, strong and airy as its moisture absorbing capacity is great which makes it cool in dry weather and warm in cold weather.

Statement Sleeves

Statement Sleeves have undoubtedly been one of the biggest trends for 2020. While off-the-shoulder and bell styles continue to dominate the streets and shops, new shapes are joining the fray. Drop sleeves bring an element of relaxed and oversized styling to this statement trend and are perfect for layering. Tied sleeves work to maximize and as for split sleeves, well they’re predicted to be the new must have style next year. Deconstructing and opening up traditional sleeves into new shapes, split styles offer a reinterpretation of this trend by taking away fabric instead of adding it.

Pyjamas Trend

Although it may have looked like a dream, pyjamas style clothes were a huge trend this year. This trend has evolved into a more luxurious interpretation. Lush velvets, luxe satins and silks and natural linens, all take the fabric side of this trend to a new level of quality and decadence. Comfortable shapes and wide leg styles allow silhouettes to become grander while the blending of pyjama pieces with structured daywear creates a more refined appearance. Patterns, such as checks and stripes are also added into the mix to take this trend to the next level.

Tees

Tees were certainly popular in 2020. Not only did this trend catch on with the street style set but celebrities thoroughly owned the style. Placement print aesthetic on a plain, black or white tee, this trend will look rock and roll while representing casual and chic.

Patent Leather Bottoms

This season, if you’re looking for some bottoms that are a whole lot trendier than your regular jeans, patent leather pants and skirts are your fashion go to. Buy a cool pair but don’t spend up too big because this trend will disappear as quickly as it spreads. Predicted to last just one season, these bottoms will be in and out of fashion stores before you know it. Short but sweet, this trend, while it lasts, will be one of the coolest of the season. Bold, daring and a little bit sexy, patent leather bottoms can spice up any outfit and be matched with a number of looks. I recommend black and red bottoms with plenty of shine to make the most of this trend.

Mini & Micro Bags

So, bags have continued to get smaller and smaller. But this season the runways and perfectly curated Instagram shots were filled with mini and micro bags, functionality aside. Our influencers are quickly embracing the trend because even if an iPhone can’t fit in it, a mini/micro bag makes the biggest fashion statement.

Boiler Suits

It’s the season to power up your style because boiler suits are officially one of the biggest trends of 2020. They are the updated version of jumpsuits with a fashion forward twist. This can be styled up or down and still look incredibly chic, no wonder majority are obsessed with the trend.

Denim Style

If I am being honest, I wear denim almost every single day (even if I’m working from home). I love how you can dress it up or down and there are so many flattering styles that never fail to make me feel glam especially with the influx of high-waisted and vintage-inspired denim looks these past few years. It’s no secret that jeans are one of the world’s most versatile staples and also one that never goes out of style. Jeans go well with just about anything.

Blazers and Biker Shorts

Street style stars and almost everyone can’t get enough of this look. Both women and men have made it a regular staple in their wardrobes and now with a fun twist paired with blazer jackets. I can’t wait to see the many renditions of the blazer x biker shorts combo this season.

Square Toe Heels

Thanks to Daniel Lee’s latest designs for Bottega Veneta, the fashion crowd has fallen completely for square-toe shoes. Not only is the trend appealing for that perfect occasion, square toe heels also are very classy and I can say for myself, very comfortable.
